leaf Industry Introduction

Webbwood grew quickly in the 1880's. Early settlers came here to farm the newly cleared land but by the 1890's and early 1900's, growth was due to the railway, lumbering camps and the discovery of gold.

As the number of people attracted to this newly formed town grew, so did the businesses. By the mid 1900's the town had grown to include general stores, a drugstore, a barber shop, blacksmiths, hotels, churches, lumber company offices, mining company offices, boarding houses, a bank, a post office and a jail.
